SAN BERNARDINO– A gang member with a prior felony strike has been sentenced from 80 years to life in prison, from a March 27, 2014, conviction of murder of a Muscoy man.
On April 17, 2017, Juan Fuentes a 26-year-old, resident of San Bernardino was sentenced for the murder of a Muscoy man Roy Craddock. Supervising Deputy District Attorney Jill Gregory prosecuted the Fuentes case. Before sentencing was rendered, one of Craddock’s family members stated to Judge J. David Mazurek, “ We do not understand how another human being, who bleeds just as we do, could be so quick to pull the trigger and take the life, the very last breath, last drop of blood from the most kind-hearted and loving human being to walk this earth… While we were standing over his casket waiting for him to wake up, give us a hug and tell us it was just a dream, his body never moved. After a while, we were all forced to realize that we were living in a nightmare.”
The body of Roy Craddock was found on Friday, November 4, 2011, near his alma mater, “Muscoy Elementary school”. Craddock had six close-range gunshot wounds to his head. Craddock’s body was discovered by a custodian that worked for Muscoy Elementary. The custodian contacted law enforcement, upon discovering the body and investigators were immediately dispatched to the scene.
After a month long investigation, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators were told by a then 20-year-old Fuentes that he was the party responsible for shooting Craddock, claiming self-defense.
District Attorney Jill Gregory concluded through interviews that, “The shooting itself was caught on surveillance, although it was shadowy and dark enough to provide only a bare outline of what had occurred there. “
