VICTORVILLE – Details remain scarce as the investigation into the shooting murder of 12-year-old girl resumes. Mikiya Walls was excitedly preparing for her first day of middle school when her life was rapidly taken by an unknown gunman Wednesday night.
At around 8:23 a.m. deputies responded to the 17000 block of Monaco Drive in the City of Victorville.for the report of a shooting. When they arrived they located Mikiya Walls suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics began CPR on Walls and rushed her to Desert Valley Hospital where she was pronounced deceased just before 10:00 p.m.
Witnesses said that a black male adult walked up to the home armed with a shotgun. He fired approximately four rounds into the home. He quickly fled in a white 4-door vehicle, possibly a Kia Rio.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. Updates will be provided as they become available.
