HESPERIA – Deputies from the Hesperia station are seeking the public’s help to identify the suspect involved in a drive-by shooting Friday evening.
On Friday, February 3, 2017, at around 7:25 p.m. deputies responded to the 8100 Block of I Avenue near Danbury Avenue. Through investigation, deputies learned that the victim, identified as 48-year-old Juan Gutierrez was involved in a road rage incident that started near Main Street and I Avenue with the unknown suspect.
“Both parties drove southbound on I Avenue to the intersection of Danbury Street where Gutierrez stopped and exited his vehicle to make contact with the suspect,” said HesperiaSheriff’s Station spokeswoman Jackie Chambers. “The suspect brandished a gun and fired multiple times at Gutierrez.” When deputies arrived they located Gutierrez suffering from two gunshot wounds to the shoulder.
The suspect was described as a white man, approximately 5’6” tall, 220 pounds, with short hair, and a goatee. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident. The suspect fled the scene eastbound on Danbury Avenue following the shooting in a dark colored SUV type vehicle.
Gutierrez was transported to a trauma center for the treatment of his injuries.
