HESPERIA – A 36-year-old Hesperia man was arrested after assaulting and attempting to rape a woman on Sunday evening. At around 7:41 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley station responded to the 7100 block of Aster Road in the City of Hesperia. When they arrived they learned that the suspect, Christopher Joseph Donnelly and a female were involved in an altercation over the dissolution of their relationship.
The altercation escalated and became physical when Donnelly allegedly assaulted the woman, attempting to pin her down and force her to have sex with him. Donnelly was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for attempted rape and battery on a spouse or cohabitant. He is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday afternoon.
