HESPERIA – A 20-year-old male suspect broke the glass doors to a Hesperia Fastrip Food Store and demanded cash from the employee on Sunday night. At around 11:15 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia station were dispatched to the store located 16117 Main Street in the City of Hesperia.
When they arrived they saw both the victim and the suspect behind the counter with the suspect demanding money from the cash register. The suspect, identified as Joseph Ray Farias was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for strong arm robbery.
Through investigation, deputies learned that Farias, a Hesperia resident, attempted to walk into the store with a bottle of alcohol. The store employee told him that he could not bring the bottle inside with him, causing him to become irate. Farias continued in, breaking the glass door, grabbing the victim, and demanding cash.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. Farias is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
