HESPERIA – A 46-year-old Hesperia man, displeased with the lack of sexual intimacy in his marriage, used an axe to break down a door to a room his wife had locked herself in.
On Sunday, September 30, 2018, at around 10:40 p.m. deputies responded to a home in the 16500 block of Vine Street in the City of Hesperia in response to a domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived at the home they learned that Javier Cruz, who also goes by Juan Carlos Calderon, became involved in an argument with his wife. “Cruz was attempting to get intimate with wife, but wife stated she did not want to,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Edgar Moran. “The wife then left their bedroom, entered one of their children’s bedrooms, and locked the door so Cruz could not get in.”
Dismayed with his wife’s lack of mutual desire, or even willingness to become intimate, Cruz banged on the door demanding to be let inside the room. This lasted for several minutes, but the wife refused to open the door. Cruz left briefly and the wife let the child out of the room and locked the door behind him. The child was scared that his father would hit him or his mother. “Cruz then entered the garage, grabbed an axe, and returned to the door,” added Hesperia Sheriff’s Department Spokesman Edgar Moran. “Cruz then began to strike the door with the axe in order to break the door down.”
Being that the children were at home at the time of the disturbance and were in fear for their lives as their father broke the door down, Cruz was arrested for Cruelty to Child. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center where he was cited and released at around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018.
