Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Three Victorville Residents

ADELANTO – A traffic stop lead to the arrest of three Victorville residents in possession of a stolen vehicle.

On October 2, 2018, at around 8:44 a.m., a deputy ran the license plate on a 1997 tan Honda Civic at the Shell Station in the 11200 block Palmdale Road in the City of Adelanto. The record check revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Chino Hills. The deputy made contact with David Bangs, 35, who was driving the vehicle and Antoinette Ortiz, 34. Neither Bangs or Ortiz had permission to drive the vehicle.

Additional investigative leads led deputies to the 8700 block of Olivera Street in the City of Victorville where Bangs uncle, Philip Bauer, 36. Bauer was found in possession of a stolen 1999 Honda Civic that was stolen from the parking lot of the Victor Valley Mall on Monday, October 1, 2018.

David Bangs, Antoinette Ortiz, and Phillip Bauer were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center. Ortiz and Bauer are being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail. Bangs, who was on PRCS release, is being held without bail on a probation hold.
