HESPERIA – A 34-year-old Hesperia man lost his life after a motorcycle crash in the City of Hesperia.
On Monday, June 4, 2018, at around 8:35 p.m. a ranger with the Hesperia Parks and Recreation District was driving in the area of Maple Avenue and El Centro Street when he noticed a single-vehicle collision just north of El Centro Street. The ranger called 911 and reported the motorcycle crash with the rider down. He advised dispatchers that emergency medical assistance was needed. Hesperia station deputies arrived on scene and found the man lying on the roadway near a 2018 black Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Deputies determined that the man was not breathing and began CPR. San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived and also attempted to save the man’s life. The male motorcycle rider was transported to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the area and through investigation, they learned that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Maple Avenue when the rider lost control and was ejected. It is unclear what caused the rider to lose control of the motorcycle, but the collision led to major injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the collision. Maple Avenue was closed in both directions from El Centro Street to Mission Avenue until around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Deputy Dustin Whitson or Deputy Scott Lafond from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760) 947-1500
