Hesperia Woman Arrested for Alleged Abuse of Her 9-year-old Stepdaughter

HESPERIA, Calif. – A 31-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested after abusing her 9-year-old stepdaughter officials said.

On Sunday, March 17, 2019, at around 2:03 p.m., the mother of the girl walked into the Hesperia Station to report that she picked up the child from her father’s Hesperia home and she had bruises on her face. The girl told the deputy that her stepmother, Wanda Lee Amezcua (also known as Wanda Hernandez) was intoxicated and grabbed the girl off of the bed by her arm. She then grabbed the girl by the face and pushed her back.

The victim sustained scratches and bruising on her face and to her right arm that were consistent with her account of the incident. Hernandez was arrested and booked into the High Detention Center for Willful Cruelty to a Child.  She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.
