HESPERIA – A 44-year-old Hesperia woman died after being involved in a 2-vehicle on Tuesday morning. At around 9:42 a.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency medical personnel responded to Eucalyptus Street and Fourth Avenue. When they arrived they located a mangled black GMC SUV and a tan Lexus sedan that were involved in the collision. The driver of the Lexus, identified as Maria Griselda Acala was found to be dead on arrival. The driver of the GMC SUV had only minor injuries as a result of his injuries.
The Hesperia Station Major Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene to investigate the collision. It was determined that the tan Lexus was driving north on Fourth Avenue and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at Eucalyptus Street. The GMC SUV did not have a stop sign or signal and was traveling east on Eucalyptus Street. The two vehicles collided and the GMC SUV broadsided the Lexus sedan. The force sent the sedan through a chain link fence.
Eucalyptus Street was closed between Fifth and Third Avenues in both directions. Fourth Avenue was closed between Mesa and Sycamore Streets. The roads were reopened at around 2:50 p.m. when the investigation was complete. Anyone with information about the collision can contact Deputies Jeremy DeBerg or Brian LoVasco from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station.
