HIGHLAND – A 27-year-old Highland man was arrested for child abuse after a Tuesday evening incident Sheriff’s officials said.
On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Sheriff Deputies were called to the 26000 Block of Baseline. Deputies observed the man later identified as Solomon Ramos Gonzales yelling and arguing with residents and the manager of the location. Gonzales was observed by the Deputies carrying a two-year-old child, both Gonzales, and the child covered in blood.
Deputies asked if Gonzales could put the child down to check on their injuries, but Gonzales refused and was acting in a bizarre manner, holding the child upside down by its legs. Since Gonzales did not comply with Deputies instructions Gonzales was tasered by Deputies in order to subdue Ramos Gonzales and rescue the child.
Upon inspection of the child, it was apparent that it had numerous injuries to its body. Gonzales was too incoherent when asked how the child received the injuries. Gonzales was intoxicated from alcohol and possibly under the influence of other illegal substances. Solomon Ramos Gonzales was arrested and booked on charges of Child Abuse and Child Endangerment. The two-year-old child was released to its mother who was working at the time of the incident.
If you have any information regarding this incident you can contact the Highland Police Department at (909)425-9793 Case#131602716 Deputy Eric Ogaz.
