HIGHLAND – A young Highland man died after a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Thursday night. At around 8:30 p.m. Andrew Rangel Gonzalez and a second pedestrian were struck by a Nissan Versa, that was driven by a 19-year-old man near 9th and Newcomb Streets in the City of Highland.
The driver of the Nissan Versa remained at the scene of the collision and emergency personnel responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found Andrew Rangel Gonzalez, an 18-year-old Highland man, with major injuries. There was also a second pedestrian who was reported hit by the vehicle, but the condition and identity of that person is yet to be released.
Paramedics on scene pronounced Rangel Gonzalez dead at the scene. The driver and his passengers were uninjured from the collision. The collision remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Major Accident Investigation Team.
