VICTORVILLE, Ca.- A 38-year-old Victorville man was found deceased in a desert area on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
At around 12:59 p.m. Victorville station deputies received a report of shots heard in the 13400 block of Mariposa Road in the City of Victorville. When they arrived they located a male subject, later identified as Jafet Casteneda lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, Casteneda was pronounced dead at the scene. Homicide detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time.
