CAJON PASS – Motorists are reporting a standstill on the 15 freeway northbound from 215 freeway to the SR-138. Although there have been rumors circulating about closures to the 15 freeway, there have not been any full closures to the northbound 15 freeway since it reopened the night of Wednesday, August 17th and no full closures of the southbound 15 freeway since it reopened the morning of Thursday, August 18th.
There is an approximately 12 mile backup on Friday afternoon and at 2:33 p.m. a silver sedan was reported to be stalled in the slow lane of traffic on the 15 north near SR-138.
The exact reason for the backup is unknown as lanes of traffic remain open. At 1:40 p.m. the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced the reopening of SR-138 from the 15 freeway to Summit Valley. Although the 15 freeway and this portion of SR-138 are now open, CHP asks that those driving in the area slow down and look out for emergency crews who are working in the area.
