SAN BERNARDINO – A vehicle illegally parked in a handicapped space led to the arrest of a man and woman Thursday night. At around 10:13 p.m. a deputy from the Central Station located a vehicle without a placard parked in a handicapped space at a motel in the 1300 block of E. Highland Avenue in the City of San Bernardino.
When running the license plate the deputy learned that the vehicle had a stolen license plate attached to an embezzled rental car. Deputies identified the room associated with the vehicle and made contact with the occupants, Jason Franz Gonzales, 41, from Carson and Nivelyn Gaces Ortal, 31, of Culver City. Both Gonzales and Ortal were on felony probation out of Los Angeles.
Deputies conducted a probation search and a firearm packaged methamphetamine, a tablet computer, a credit card making machine, fictitious identifications and the credit card information of approximately 30 victims were located. Both suspects were booked into the Central Detention Center for conspiracy, identity theft, possession of a controlled substance while armed, felon in possession of a firearm, and theft via false pretenses.
