INDIO – A life was lost in a vehicle fire on the I-10 just east of Dillon Road in Indio early on Tuesday CHP officials said.
At around 2:06 a.m. the California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to a call reporting a fire located on the shoulder north of the freeway. As they responded, they were notified that the fire was a vehicle on fire. When the CHP units arrived they located the Dodge sedan fully engulfed in flames resting against a freeway sign pole. Cal Fire personnel responded to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire. When the fire was out, one person was found deceased in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
The severity of the fire prevented responders from being able to identify the occupant or collect more information about the vehicle. If anyone has information regarding the collision, they are encouraged to call the Indio CHP at 760-772-5300.
