HESPERIA – A 30-year-old Victorville man was arrested after leading deputies on a pursuit through the City of Hesperia on Monday night.
On May 14, 2018, at around 8:10 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station in the area of Main Street and Mariposa Road noticed a stolen vehicle. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle near Main Street and Seventh Avenue, but the driver did not yield. Sheriff’s aviation (40-King) responded to the scene. Deputies pursued the vehicle, but in the interest of public safety, the ground units terminated the ground pursuit as 40-king continued to follow the vehicle. The sheriff’s helicopter followed the vehicle until it crashed into a curb on Main Street near Escondido Avenue.
Once the vehicle became disabled the suspect, later identified as Milagro Gonzalez fled on foot. Gonzalez attempted to carjack a vehicle in his path but was unable to gain access. He continued on foot, running from deputies in pursuit. “After a short foot pursuit, deputies struggled with Gonzalez as he resisted arrest,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Station Spokeswoman Jaclyn Chambers. “During the struggle a Hesperia Deputy and Gonzales received injuries.”
The deputy was treated at the scene for minor injuries and was released. Gonzalez was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was released from the hospital and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Vehicle Theft, and Evading.
