PERRIS, Ca. – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Station is asking for help with information about a backpack that was at the scene of an infant death.
The deceased infant was found in Perris on Friday, January 22, 2021, and the backpack is believed to be associated with the infant. It is unclear if the infant was found inside the backpack or why authorities believe the backpack is associated with the deceased infant.
No further information has been released at this time. Anyone who believes they know who owns the backpack should contact Investigator Magana at 951-955-2777 reference case #PE-210220083.

The person who surrenders the baby to a Fire Department or Hospital employee will not be prosecuted for abandonment or neglect. The law also allows a 14-day cooling off period if the parent changes their mind.
