Lake Elsinore Domestic Dispute Leads to a Dip in the Lake

LAKE ELSINORE – A 22-year-old Lake Elsinore man was arrested Saturday morning after the report of domestic violence led to the discovery of another unrelated crime.

At around 7:15 a.m. police from the Lake Elsinore station responded to the report of an altercation between a man and woman on the 300 block of Main Street in the City of Lake Elsinore.

Information obtained during the investigation police learned that Matthew Jones was in the area on a stolen motorcycle. Officers located a motorcycle with a matching description of one that was stolen in Wildomar several days before.

When the officers tried to make contact with Jones, he got off the motorcycle fleeing on foot into the lake. Officers followed and according to Sheriff’s officials, he was taken into custody around 125 feet off shore.

He was arrested for kidnapping, battery, and theft of the vehicle. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact  Deputy Innes at the Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3300, or after hours at (951) 776-1099.
