BARSTOW – A young Lenwood man was arrested after a deputy from the Barstow station witnessed him driving erratically on Saturday morning. While on Main Street in the City of Barstow, Deputy Bubier was driving and saw a vehicle that was driving in a manner that could jeopardize the safety of the public.
He began following the vehicle in preparation to make a traffic stop, but the driver later identified as 20-year-old Eric Burdett began making several random turns, apparently attempting to lose the deputy. Burdett stopped at the corner of Nancy Street and C Avenue and the deputy initiated the stop of the vehicle. During the records check of the vehicle, the deputy found that it was a vehicle reported stolen just hours before the stop.
The driver of the vehicle was able to positively identify Burdett as the suspect who stole his vehicle. Burdett was arrested for the possession of stolen property and vehicle theft. Burdett was also found to have narcotics hidden on him during booking into the Barstow Jail. He was later transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he is being held on $60,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
Anyone with additional information regarding this case can contact Deputy Ken Bubier or Sergeant Anthony Padfield at the Barstow Sheriff’s Station.
