ADELANTO, Calif. – Residents of Adelanto and nearby cities have been watching the long-awaited development of the Lewis Retail Center. The City of Adelanto announced on Wednesday that the construction plans have been submitted and officially filed their application at the City Hall to move forward with Phase 1 of the Lewis Retail Center. Phase 1 will be located on the southwest corner of Highway 395 and Mojave Drive.
The first of the development phase will include five buildings measuring collectively over 21,000 square feet. This portion of the project will cover an area of nearly 7 acres of the approximate 35-acre project area. The construction is set to begin in April. “At build-out, this retail shopping center will offer the residents and visitors of Adelanto over 200,000 square feet of new shopping and dining opportunities, a car wash, and a gas station,” said Mayor Gabriel Reyes.
Delays will continue on the southbound lanes of Highway 395 so that work with the widening project can continue from Mojave Drive to Cactus Road. This phase of the project should be complete by the end of March, officials said. “This is an exciting time for our community, said Mayor Reyes. “The Council and I are committed to the continued planned growth of this City and look forward to working with developers and business owners who see the promising future of Adelanto and want to invest in our community.”
