APPLE VALLEY, Calif. – Town of Apple Valley residents looking to avoid disposal fees while disposing of tires are in luck.
With several Tire Amnesty Days throughout the year, there is one just around the corner on February 9, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. All residents of Apple Valley can dispose of up to nine passenger car or light truck tires with proof of address. No rims will be accepted. The event is for residents and excludes commercial dealers. “We collected 5,400 tires at amnesty day events in 2018,” said Code Enforcement Manager, Guy Eisenbrey. “Used tires are hazardous waste that, when dumped illegally, attract other sorts of illegal dumping activity.”
Cal-Recycle’s Local Government Waste Tire Amnesty Program covers the costs associated with the event. The Town of Apple Valley Code Enforcement and Burrtec Waste are hosting the event which will be held at Lion’s Park on South Outer Highway 18, between Flathead and Dale Evans Parkway. Mark the future dates on your calendar, Tire Amnesty Day events in 2019 are scheduled for the following dates:
- April 13
- June 8
- August 17
- September 21
- December 7
