CAJON PASS – A man was airlifted after being struck by a vehicle on the 1-15 south near the runaway truck ramp late Wednesday morning.
Per CHP incident logs the collision was reported at around 11:08 a.m. Emergency medical personnel on scene reported that the man sustained internal injuries as well as minor scrapes a result of the collision. An air ambulance was requested to land at the scene.
The southbound lanes were shut down for several minutes so that the air ambulance could land in order to transport the patient. As of 1:00 p.m. motorists report that freeway speed remains reduced.
It is unknown why the man was walking on the freeway or if the driver stopped after hitting the man.
