HEMET – A huge rock flew through the front lobby window of the Hemet Police Department Friday morning. Everyone was shocked, since it was business, as usual, that day prior to the 11:00 a.m. incident. The suspect, later identified as 23-year-old Hemet resident Christopher Smith walked calmly away from the building after what could have been a very dangerous situation.
The rock missed a woman, who was sitting in the lobby by only inches. Although the approximately 7-pound rock missed her, shards of glass sprayed across the interior of the lobby, some of those hitting her.
No one was seriously injured but paramedics responded to the scene to provide medical aid.
Police made contact and arrested Smith nearby as he made statements to the arresting officer expressing his dislike for the Hemet Police Department. Smith was transported and booked into the Riverside County Jail.
