BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – An arrest has been made in a double murder that occurred in the City of Bakersfield last month.
On July 21, 2019, a man and woman were found deceased in the street in the 300 block of East Fairview Road in Bakersfield. Responding deputies arrived and learned the two has been shot to death. Homicide detectives assumed the identification and identified the victims as Marbeli Castro Garcia, 31, and Emilio Diaz Chavez, 36. The investigation led to Gudelio Gutierrez Grande being identified as the suspect. The suspect was believed to be involved in a dating relationship with Castro-Garcia.
Gutierrez Grande was located at a home in the 3400 block of Pioneer Drive on August 1, 2019. He saw the detectives approaching the home and fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended and was found to have a loaded firearm in his possession. The firearm was determined to be stolen. No injuries were reported as a result of the arrest. Gutierrez Grande was booked into the Kern County Jail for the two murders.
