Fontana Man Arrested for Paying Underage Girls for Sex Acts

FONTANA, Calif. – An 18-year-old Fontana man was arrested for the shooting death of his mother in their Fontana home.

On Thursday, March 28, 2019,, at around 1:44 a.m., Fontana Police responded to the reports of gunshots heard in the 14600 block of Mountain High Drive. Officers responded to additional 911 calls were being made, stating that a man was outside holding a rifle. Authorities said that a 12-year-old girl inside the home, reported that one of her family members had been shot inside of the home.

When officers arrived to the home they made contact with Fabian Dusten Cardona, was found hiding near the passenger door of a truck. He was armed with a scoped AR-15 style rifle. He aimed the gun at the officers, causing the officers to shoot one round toward Cardona. The shot missed him but Cardona dropped his rifle and surrendered. When officers and medics entered the home, they located Cardona’s 50-year-old mother suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her torso. She was transported to the hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.

Through investigation, it was learned that Cardona and his mother both lived in the home. Cardona shot the victim, exited the home, and knocked on the doors of at least two other homes. He fired his rifle at a van parked on the street, broke into a pickup truck where police officials said it appeared to be his hiding place as he lied in wait for the officers to arrive.

The motive remains unknown. Cardona was booked at the West Valley Detention Center for Homicide.
