TEMESCAL VALLEY, Ca. – An El Cerrito man who was on felony probation for a burglary was arrested on Monday for grand theft at a Temescal Valley landfill, authorities said.
At around 3:06 a.m., deputies responded to Dawson Canyon Road and Temescal Canyon in the area of Temescal Valley, an area between Corona and Lake Elsinore. When deputies arrived they located a red Chevrolet Corona, which was speeding away without the headlights illuminated. The Camaro crashed into a light pole on the northbound entrance of I015 at Temescal Canyon.
Dakota Shoup, the 31-year-old driver, exited the Camaro and was located at a nearby gas station. Stolen items were found inside the Camaro that were identified as those taken from the landfill.
Dakota Shoup was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center.
Anyone with additional information is urged to call Deputy McGuire at Riverside County Sheriff’s dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at (951) 245-3300.
