MORENO VALLEY, Calif. – A 25-year-old man died while being taken into custody by Moreno Valley deputies on Tuesday.
At around 3:36 a.m. deputies responded to the report of a battery at the home in the 17000 block of Bronco Lane in the City of Moreno Valley. When they arrived they detained the suspect, who was in front of the home. “The male was cooperative and complied with deputies’ instructions,” Moreno Valley Police officials said. “While being detained, the suspect went into cardiac arrest and deputies immediately began lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.”
Per Department policy regarding in-custody deaths; investigators from the Moreno Valley Police Department and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation which is still ongoing. The suspect’s name is being withheld pending family notification.
