UPDATE (5-25-17): The deceased man has been identified as 24-year-old Victorville transient, Prentice Dean. In order to protect the integrity of the investigation, authorities are not releasing any additional information at this time.
VICTORVILLE – A Black male adult was located unresponsive in the area behind the El Super Market in the 14900 block of Bear Valley Road early Wednesday morning.
At around 6:09 a.m. a reporting party called 911 to report that a man was down and not breathing. Upon the discovery of his body and the confirmation of his death at around 6:20 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Station called for Homicide Detectives to respond to the scene.
The cause of death for the man is yet to be determined sheriff’s officials said and the identity of the man will be released once his family has been notified.
A hard closure was put in place on Cottonwood Avenue and Tokay Street temporarily for the investigation and so that the coroner could arrive to collect the deceased man.
