HESPERIA – A Hesperia father attempting to save his son from the rushing aqueduct water was found deceased in the aqueduct after an extensive search Sunday afternoon.
Osbaldo Rodriguez, 31, was walking along the aqueduct as his 9-year-old son was riding his bike nearby, The young boy fell off of his bicycle and landed in the fast-moving aqueduct water. With few options, Rodriguez jumped into the water to save his son. Rodriguez was successful in getting his son safely out of the water before himself disappearing.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department received a call at around 12:48 p.m. reporting that Rodriguez was missing in the aqueduct water near Ranchero Road and 11th Avenue. The Sheriff’s Dive Team searched extensively before finding Rodriguez deceased just before 4:45 p.m.
