PALM SPRINGS – A 75-year-old man died as a result of a traffic collision on Sunday officials said. The deceased man, later identified as Paul Preshaw, of Yucca Valley was driving his 2015 Dodge Ram van eastbound on the I-10 east of SR-62. The second driver, 47-year-old, Benjamin Sellers from Marshall, NC was also driving eastbound on the I-10 in front of the Dodge.
For reasons that remain under investigation, the Dodge Ram struck the back of the Freightliner causing major front-end damage to the Dodge. The impact caused the van to the right, off the roadway and into a tree on the south side of the freeway.
Preshaw was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The collision remains under investigation by the Indio CHP. It is not known if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
