TEMECULA – A 78-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a Saturday evening traffic collision in the City of Temecula. At around 6:45 p.m. the Temecula Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the collision on Rainbow Canyon Road around a ½ mile south of Bay Hill Drive.
The officers arrived to find the male motorcyclist from Anza lying on the roadway. They immediately began providing medical aid to the motorcyclist who was transported to Temecula Valley Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Based on preliminary investigations it was learned that the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Rainbow Canyon Road when for unknown reasons he crossed the center divider. After crossing, he struck a southbound traveling sedan head on. Officials said that alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the collision. Rainbow Canyon Road between Bay Hill Road and the 47100 Rainbow Canyon road were closed for nearly four hours while officers conducted the investigation.
