SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO – In an incident that began as a verbal altercation between parents and their adult child, one parent was killed and the second was badly injured.
On Friday night, concerned neighbors in the area of La Novia and Ortega Highway in the City of San Juan Capistrano called the police when they saw a male subject, later identified as Yihong Peng, 30, standing in the street armed with a knife. Within minutes, several deputies arrived and located the mother of the suspect, Wei Ping Shen and his father, both suffering from stab wounds. They also saw the suspect who allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was later taken into custody without incident.
The suspect’s mother died as a result of her injuries, but his father; although critically injured, is expected to survive. Yiong Peng was arrested for murder and is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
