APPLE VALLEY – An Apple Valley man was arrested after being involved in a traffic collision then fleeding the scene leaving behind his wife and 3 and 5-year-old child authorities said.
On Saturday, September 16, 2017, at around 10:32 p.m a deputy from Victor Valley station was on patrol and noticed a black vehicle driving eastbound in the area of Cahuilla and Japul Road in the Town of Apple Valley. The vehicle swerved into the westbound lane where the deputy was driving. The driver, later identified as Juan Manual Flores, 39, then overcorrected, veering off onto the shoulder of the road and then sped away.
The deputy turn around to catch up to the vehicle, which crashed into a dirt field several miles away. Flores got out of the vehicle and fled into the desert. The deputy, with the assistance of his K-9 partner “Ellie” located flores who was
taken into custody. “Flores’s wife and children, ages 3 and 5, all suffered multiple lacerations and possible broken bones,” said Victor Valley Station Sheriff’s spokeswoman Staci Parkes. “They were transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.” Flores was booked into jail for child endangerment and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
