BARSTOW – A Barstow man was shot in his own driveway just feet away from his longtime girlfriend and two daughters on Wednesday evening. According to the Thursday news release, the incident was reported at around 7:50 p.m. indicating that there was a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1000 block of Glacier Drive.
Police from the Barstow station responded to the scene and located the man, later identified as Jesus Augustine Romero, 36, suffering from a single gunshot wound. The first officers on scene provided aid to the victim as they awaited the paramedic’s arrival. Paramedics from the Barstow Fire District responded to the scene to provide medical aid and to transport Romero to Barstow Community Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts provided, Romero died as a result of his injuries.
Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Detectives collected evidence related to the shooting and canvassed the area for witnesses. The motive remains unknown and the male suspect remains at large at this time.
