CORONA – A Corona man and woman were arrested for child endangerment based on what was viewed on Youtube videos Corona Police said. On Monday, March 6, 2017, Corona Police received information that there were two Youtube videos that showed dangerous driving behavior involving a child. In the video, you can see the back of a white Dodge pick up truck lined in plastic being filled with Orbeez, a gel-type material that when water is added each tiny ball can swell to 100-300 times the original size.
The family then adds water and an 8-year-old boy and a woman went into the back of the truck bed, and laid down, while the driver drove the truck through busy Corona streets. Police officials said that once the drive was complete, they dumped all of it on Rimpau Avenue near Erick Street. This illegal dumping created dangerous road conditions for other motorists. Authorities said that the material remained on the road and some spilled into the sewer drains.
The videos were viewed by members of the Corona Police Department traffic bureau leading them to the identity of those involved as Holly Piazza, 45, and Brian Chase, 37. The extensive clean-up of the roadway was done by the City Department of Water and Power and those responsible will be required to pay the costs associated with the clean-up. Both Piazza and Chase were arrested for misdemeanor child endangerment of the 8-year-old boy and Piazza, was additionally issued a citation for illegal dumping of the materials on the road.
