TWENTYNINE PALMS – A 29-year-old Twentynine Palms man is behind bars for stabbing his mother in the back, then also wounding his brother officials said.
On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at around 2:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 5600 block of Daisy Avenue for the report of a stabbing. They arrived to find Susan Turnbaugh outside of the home suffering from a stab wound to her upper back. They also found Wayne Turnbaugh suffering from a superficial wound to his arm. Susan Turnbaugh was transported to the hospital and expected to recover.
Through investigation, authorities learned that William Bassine, was involved in a verbal altercation when he stabbed his mother, Susan, then threw the knife at his brother Wayne. Bassine refused to comply with deputy commands made for him to exit the home for over an hour. He eventually came out and was arrested. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Attempted Murder and is being held in lieu of $100,000.
