MORONGO VALLEY – A 33-year-old Morongo Valley man was arrested for an assault and for making criminal threats to his father on Monday evening. At around 7:45 p.m. deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to the home on the 49000 block of Buena Vista Drive in Morongo Valley.
The father, John Schrader reported that his son, Luke Schrader was brandishing a gun, and assaulted him causing severe injury to his face. He went on to tell them that Luke was heavily intoxicated and had threatened to kill him. When deputies arrived Luke was armed with multiple firearms and would not exit the home. Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home and an arrest warrant for Luke Schrader.
The Sheriff’s SWAT team responded to the home to assist with the apprehension of Luke Schrader. Using chemical agents inside of the home, the SWAT team was able to get Luke out of the home to surrender. Luke was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for criminal threats, felony assault, and brandishing a weapon. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
