MENIFEE – A 21-year-old man who sexually assaulted a young girl was arrested after several parents who witnessed the incident chased him down to detain him officials said.
Dispatchers received a 911 call on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at around 6:30 p.m. stating that a man attempted to sexually assault the juvenile at La Ladera Park, located at 29620 La Ladera Road in Menifee. Officers from the Menifee Station quickly responded to the location and while en route they learned that the sexual assault was not only an attempt, but that the male suspect groped the young girl.
When officers arrived, they made contact with witnesses and the suspect, Roland George Riddell. Police took custody of Riddell who was subsequently interviewed. Witnesses including the young victim were also interviewed and Riddell was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for misdemeanor annoying and molesting a child. Riddell was interviewed for a second time the following day, as a result, and due to the victim’s age, Riddell was also charged with felony Child Molestation.
