DESERT HOT SPRINGS – Desert Hot Springs Police discovered a marijuana grow with over 700 marijuana plants with a street value of around $1 million after a fire broke out early Tuesday morning. At around 5:45 a.m. Cal Fire firefighters and Desert Hot Springs Police officers responded to the 65300 block of Osprey Lane in Desert Hot Springs for the report of a structure fire.
After further inspection of the property, the cause of the fire appeared to be faulty electrical wiring which was connected to an illegal marijuana grow inside the home. A search warrant was authored and served and over 700 plants in various stages of growth were located. The occupants fled prior to the police arriving at the scene. No one was injured as a result of the fire. The investigation is ongoing.
