ADELANTO – A missing woman from Ridgecrest, California was located in her vehicle, which was in a compromised mid-slope position Saturday evening.
At around 6:15 p.m. two off-road vehicle riders located a red Hummer, which appeared to be in a traffic collision on Highway 395 near Torosa Road in the City of Adelanto. San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel located the vehicle, which required extended extrication, due to the vehicle being in an unstable position.
At around 7:15 p.m. the vehicle was stabilized by County Firefighters and members of the Urban Search and Rescue. County firefighters began to rescue the missing woman, who was able to tell firefighters her name and birthdate. Sergeant Robert Trostle from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station told a 24/7 Headline News reporter that it appeared as though the woman, identified as 69-year-old Barbara Joyce McPherson, was trapped at the location for a least a few days prior to being located.
A Silver Alert was issued for McPherson on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, where she was reported missing from Ridgecrest, over 75 miles from the accident location. Several days ago, McPherson used the OnStar in her vehicle to alert authorities to her being trapped and injured. The California Highway Patrol attempted to locate McPherson at the time, but were unable to locate her vehicle.
McPherson was conscious and breathing when removed from the vehicle and was subsequently airlifted from the scene to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Her condition was listed as serious, but non-life-threatening.
