APPLE VALLEY – Cancer is a word that comes with many emotions, but when it is a child fighting this devastating disease the impact is far greater.
A parent deals with feelings of helplessness as their child deals with difficult treatments which many times are in themselves risky, but many times the only hope for survival. The MOMS Club of Hesperia Valley recognizes this issue and many of its members have witnessed children fighting for their lives, while most other children are able to play carelessly. Supporting the mission of Jesse Rees, a girl who ultimately died of cancer and the NEGU, which stands for “Never Give Up” the MOMS Club is hosting this amazing event.
Foo Dog Martial Arts Academy, located at 15761 Main Street and High Desert Farmer’s Market, located at 18422 Bear Valley Road in the City of Victorville have set out boxes at their location for the Joy Drive. The Joy Drive is a drive for specified items including crayons, coloring books, and other items to provide to children who must stay at the hospital for longer periods of time. These items help to temporarily ease the fears, pain, and/or boredom that so many of these children face on a daily basis.
As the final days of the Joy Drive approach, a can’t-miss Breakfast with Superheros at Applebees in the Jess Ranch Shopping Center will be coming. The special breakfast will be from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 19201 Bear Valley Road. Four superheroes will be attending the breakfast and the delicious breakfast will not only fill the bellies of your little (and big) superhero fans but will create memories that are sure to last a lifetime. The breakfast will include pancakes, eggs, sausage, potatoes, and unlimited coffee, and orange juice.
There are still a few tickets left and tickets will not be sold at the door. All of the proceeds and items collected from the Joy Drive will be taken to the Jesse Rees Foundation, along with a Superhero who is taking time out of his or her busy schedule to attend.
