MORENO VALLEY, Ca. – Two teen males are likely to be facing murder charges after the victim they brutally beat at Landmark Middle School last week died as a result of his injuries.
The attack occurred at the Moreno Valley school on Monday, September 16, 2019, and other students said that it was simply a matter of bullying. The boy, only referred to by his first name, “Diego” was pronounced clinically deceased lat night at the hospital. Sheriff’s officials said on Tuesday that despite rigorous medical intervention the hospital staff was unable to sustain his life. His family plans on donating his organs in order to help others who are facing life-altering illnesses that require organ transplants.
“The Sheriff’s Department joins the community in mourning the loss of this young man,” officials said in a news release. “The two suspects previously arrested for the assault which led to Diego’s death remain in the custody of Riverside County Juvenile Hall, facing prosecution for this assault.” The names of the two juveniles will not be released at this time, but may later be released if the District Attorney’s office chooses to file adult criminal charges.
Anyone with further information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Joshua Manjarrez at 951-955-2777, assigned to the Central Homicide Unit or Investigator John Tometich at 951-486-6700, assigned to the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Investigation Bureau.
