MORENO VALLEY, Calif. – A Moreno Valley man was arrested for hitting a female pedestrian with his vehicle and fleeing the scene.
On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at around 9:50 p.m., deputies responded to the scene of a major injury hit and run traffic collision near Plaza Sonata Way and Los Cabos in Moreno Valley. When they arrived they located a woman with extensive injuries who was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital.
Through investigation it was learned that the suspect vehicle struck and pinned the pedestrian who was at the rear of the vehicle. He then fled the scene without stopping to determine the condition or provide aid to the injured woman. They later identified the suspect vehicle as a white Chevrolet Impala that has sustained damage to the front as a result of the collision. This information was broadcasted to other deputies and surrounding agencies.
The investigation continued and in the morning of June 13, 2019, the Moreno Valley Station Traffic Team continued the investigation. They reviewed the City-Wide Camera System and obtained additional information about the suspect vehicle.
“One of our sergeants, who was on-duty when the collision occurred, was off-duty on his way home, when he noticed a White Chevrolet Impala abandoned on the northbound off-ramp of Interstate 215 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in the city of Riverside,” Sheriff’s officials said. “The off-duty sergeant relayed this information to the traffic team and a motor deputy responded to the area of Interstate 215 and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to check the area. Images from the City-Wide Camera System were provided to the motor deputy, who determined the vehicle matched the suspect’s vehicle description.”
The vehicle was towed to the Moreno Valley Station for evidence collection. One Saturday, June 15, 2019, Christopher Deon Humphrey was identified as the suspect and arrested. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Deputy Kevin Seguin of the Moreno Valley Traffic Division at 951-486-6700.
