PALMDALE, Calif. – Two men were arrested for three incidents, including two armed robberies in the City of Palmdale.
On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at around 10:30 p.m. Palmdale Station Deputies responded to the 20th Street and Palmdale Boulevard for the report of an armed robbery. The victim told police that he was walking northbound 20th Street when he was assaulted and robbed at gunpoint. He said that a pick-up truck pulled up to him and demanded money while the second male suspect was armed with a rifle. ‘The victim was ordered to lay on the ground and was punched repeatedly by the suspects,” Palmdale Sheriff’s officials said. “The suspects removed a cell phone from the victims pocket and fled eastbound on Palmdale Boulevard.”
A few hours later another robbery occurred at around 12:30 a.m., on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Deputies responded to 703 East Palmdale Boulevard regarding the robbery. Deputies made contact with the victim and learned that he was robbed near the 8th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard intersection. The victim described the same suspect vehicle as the prior armed robbery and said that it pulled up next to him. He approached the vehicle while armed with a rifle. “The suspect demanded the victim’s property, but the victim refused,” Sheriff officials said. “After refusing, the suspect responded by discharging a round into the ground. Out of fear, the victim allowed the suspect to take his gym bag containing his wallet.”
The suspects fled the location, north on 8th Street East. A 9mm bullet casing was found at the scene. Between the two robberies deputies responded to a shots fired call near Avenue Q-6 and 15th Street East.
At the location, they learned a similar suspect vehicle had fired 5-6 shots at a different victim. As deputies searched the area, the suspect vehicle was located and detained. Inside the vehicle was the robbery victim’s property and a 9mm bullet casing, however, the firearm was not recovered.
The suspects were arrested and booked at Palmdale Station. The suspects were identified as Marcos Leon, and Rafael Deras. It appears that all three incidents are related.
