RIVERSIDE – A 31-year-old Moreno Valley man was arrested following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Riverside Police officials said.
On Monday, March 20, 2017, at around 12:50 p.m. officers from the East Neighborhood Policing Center attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near University and Eucalyptus Avenues. The officer activated his lights, but the suspect failed to yield. The pursuit entered the freeway, with the suspects leading the officers into Moreno Valley. The vehicle exited the freeway and the officers lost sight. The Air Support Unit (AIR-1) responded to the location and were able to locate the vehicle, which was abandoned. Moreno Valley Police set up a perimeter and did a yard-to-yard search.
The suspect, later identified as Albert Arevalo, was located hiding in heavy foliage in the backyard of a home.The suspect was taken into custody. Arevalo was taken to a local hospital and subsequently booked into jail for auto theft with priors, evading the police, possession of stolen property, and resisting arrest.
