MORENO VALLEY – A Moreno Valley man and woman were arrested for committing multiple commercial robberies while using children to help carry out the crimes.
During the month of June 2018, Moreno Valley Police began an investigation into multiple commercial robberies. Through investigation it was determined that the man and woman, identified as Darrell Campbell, 32, and Jeammie Preston, 32, both of Moreno Valley, planned the robberies teaching the juvenile family members to grab specific merchandise to carry out of the major retail business. The female waited outside in the vehicle’s driver’s seat for their return and acted as a getaway driver. The male threatened security officers with a knife while fleeing the scene with the children, who were described only as family members.
Campbell and Preston were later linked to multiple other thefts in Menifee, Eastvale, Riverside, Lake Elsinore, Glendora, and San Bernardino since October 2017. The evidence against the two was described by authorities as “significant”. The two were located and detained in the 25000 block of Alessandro Boulevard in the City of Moreno Valley. Child Protective Services (CPS) took custody of three juveniles who were living in the home. Campbell and Preston were booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for Robbery, Grand Theft, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Child Endangerment. Each is being held in lieu of over $200,000 bail.
