Motorcyclist Airlifted with Major Injuries Following Motorcycle Crash

VICTORVILLE – A Saturday night collision left a motorcyclist suffering from major injuries and a second man with minor to moderate injuries. The collision was reported at around 10:25 p.m. on Hesperia Road and City View Drive in the City of Victorville.

Deputies from the Victorville station and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene to find the collision involved a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Chevrolet Suburban. Through investigation, it was determined that the motorcycle was being driven by Sal Joe Romero, 40, of Victorville and the Suburban was driven by David Zendejas Cortez, 47, of Hesperia. Romero was traveling south on Hesperia Road when the Suburban entered the roadway from a parking lot on the west side of Hesperia Road south of City View Drive. The motorcycle crashed into the rear driver side of the Suburban.

Romero was transported by ground ambulance to Victor Valley Global Medical Center to be airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. Zendejas Cortes complained of pain and was transported to VIctor Valley Global Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

Hesperia Road was closed to traffic in both directions in the area of the collision until approximately 5:00 a.m. for the investigation. This is an ongoing investigation by the Victorville Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone with information about the collision is requested to contact Deputy C.
