One Man Shot Dead After a Family Party in Victorville

VICTORVILLE – One man is dead and a second was arrested for his murder after a Victorville birthday party turned deadly Saturday evening.

At around 7:40 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station and medics from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a shots fired call on the 13900 Block of Palomino Court in the City of Victorville.

A family member of the suspect and the victim said that 76-year-old suspect shot his own stepson several times. Per scanner traffic, the gun was removed from the possession of the suspect and put in the master bedroom of the home.

A patrol unit parked in front of the home made  and made PA announcements telling the suspect to come out of the home with his hands up. 

Deputies surrounded the home, the deputy in the rear of the home reported that the family was gathered there distraught about what had just occurred. The suspect remained at the scene and was taken into custody at around 7:50 p.m.

Once cleared from any danger, medics attempted to resuscitate the ailing victim to no avail. The man was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s spokeswoman, Cindy Bachman could only confirm there is a Homicide investigation underway for the shooting death of one victim. She also told a 24/7 Headline News reporter that there will be additional information made available following the investigation.
