VICTORVILLE – A vehicle versus pedestrian collision took the life of a male pedestrian and injured a female pedestrian on Thursday night.
Just before 11:00 p.m. the two pedestrians were crossing Hook Boulevard when they were struck by a gray Toyota Camry. When deputies from the Victorville station and emergency medical personnel arrived, they found the one man lying in the roadway unresponsive and a second pedestrian who possibly had a compound fracture of the right leg at Hook Boulevard and Amargosa Road.
The 39-year-old male pedestrians died at the scene, while the second pedestrian was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance. The driver of the vehicle was treated at the scene and released.
The Major Accident Investigation Team – M.A.I.T. responded to conduct an investigation leaving the road closed for several hours. The road was reopened at around 4:35 p.m. Through investigation, it was learned that the Toyota was driving east on Hook Boulevard near Amargosa Road when the two pedestrians who were crossing Hook Boulevard were struck by the vehicle.
